The Walk
First
the good news: we are all delighted to hear about your medical news, Marian.
And we wish you many more years of enjoyable walks. With the world so full of
bad news it’s good to know that sometimes things go well.We began today’s walk by parking at the woodland car park near The Silent Woman (she’s still not on speaking terms) on the edge of Wareham Forest. The weather was cold and a northerly wind made it feel even colder. But we are a hardy lot and we set out in good spirits. We hadn’t gone far before we discovered our intended route was closed by forestry work. Undaunted, we set off on a different path and made our way over the hills and far away to Sandford. The paths were occasionally a bit muddy, but nothing that caused us any bother. Mostly we were able to follow dry tracks. It was a pleasant saunter through the woods.
After lunch we took a slightly different route back through the forest and again met with no difficulties. We ended up with tea and lovely calorie-filled cakes for which we thank you, Sue. A third helping was hard to resist.
The Pub
The
Sandford at Wareham. This was the first time we had eaten here and we were not
very impressed. A can of Guinness cost £3.90 (yes, a can, not draught) and a
pie, mash and peas was £10.95. Much too expensive compared with other places we
have eaten. Beatrice’s scrambled egg on toast had to go back as the toast was
burned black. Not good enough.
Next Week
