The Walk
We parked
at the farm near Turners Puddle. The day was dry but cold and we were all
suitable clothed. The morning walk was easy-going over relatively dry land. We
entered Bere Regis through the quaintly named Shitterton area and made our way
along the riverside path to the church and then to the pub. After lunch we took a route that led across Brian May’s fields… the land he has purchased from a developer to prevent housing development. After the last crop is reaped, the area will be returned to its natural state. Farther on, as we walked through woodland, the going got a bit muddy, but the walk was pleasant and the weather stayed dry. We finished the walk at Michael’s memorial.
Many thanks to Wendy for kindly rounding off the day with tea and cakes.
The Pub
The Royal
Oak at Bere Regis. The atmosphere inside the pub has greatly improved since new
owners took over. The food was okay, but nothing special. We suspect the new
owners need to get a more experienced chef for the food to live up to the new
interior.
Next Week
Meet at
DeMauley Road for a bus trip to Swanage. Time TBN.
