The Wednesday Walk 24th February 2010

The Plan
A Witchampton Walk

The Leader
Wendy and Beatrice

Who Turned Up
Wendy, Trudy, Beatrice, Tony H, Sue.

The Walk
Five of us set out. We left the car in the usual spot in Witchampton, near the estate gates and headed off in the direction of the Horton Inn. The morning section was very enjoyable although a bit muddy. As the photographs show, we saw plenty of snowdrops. The weather was overcast but not unpleasant.
David joined us for lunch and afterwards Wendy returned to Wimborne with him.
Then the rest of us set off on the afternoon section ... and quickly came to the conclusion it might have been the wrong decision. It started to rain soon after we left the pub. Along the way, we had to trudge through a very muddy field full of young steers, which frightened Sue and Beatrice, especially when they came a bit too close for comfort! We encountered seven or eight stiles which was bad for Beatrice. We also trudged through some unbelievably slippery mud. And the rain continued for most of the walk. Apart from that, it was a good walk.
The Pub
The Horton Inn. Their special deal was two meals for £8. As there were six of us, we all got in on the deal. Three had ham, egg and chips and the other three had gammon. Everyone enjoyed their chosen food.
